Walk Ten Steps with the Lord, by C. Thomas Ebel, is a wonderful book geared to introducing seekers to faith in Jesus Christ and helping them allow God’s Spirit to mold, and use, them for His purposes and glory.

Written by a lawyer, a “regular guy” who lives in the trenches of life daily, this easy read is packed with practical principles for knowing, and growing, in Christ. The discussion questions at the end of each chapter add to its life application capabilities, and make it a meaningful tool for small group study, as well as personal reflection.

Our company did a group study of Tom Ebel’s book, Walk Ten Steps with the Lord. We read two chapters each week for five weeks and met on Monday mornings to discuss what we read. What God did through this book totally transformed the lives of the people in the group. We are all experiencing an amazingly deepened faith in God and by living out the ten steps on a daily basis we and others are seeing our lives look more and more like Jesus’ life. It doesn’t get any better than this!!

Walk Ten Steps With The Lord has been a gift from God because it has reassured me that I am on track, taking the steps along His narrow road.

Over the last 32+ years I have considered Tom a close friend, confidante, and a man strong in his faith! WALK TEN STEPS with The LORD has turned out to be a great tool for our men’s ministry. Our mission is to Empower Men to Get In, Get Strong, and Get Going; WALK TEN STEPS is an awesome blueprint on just how to do that! We have used this book to turn the lives of men upside down and help point them in the direction of the Lord and a totally different life.

[Walk Ten Steps With the Lord] is a simple, well-told story that invites the reader to keep reading.  One of its great strengths is its simplicity. Another is the questions that Mr. Ebel asks in each chapter. As a practicing lawyer, Mr. Ebel makes his living asking questions about situations and problems that are presented to him; questions that are calculated to elicit all of the relevant facts about an issue; and, by doing so, telling a story that leads to the truth. He uses these same techniques and skills in his book.

Readers who may be on the edge of faith are apt to be persuaded by Tom’s witness. His framework of 10 steps is helpful. Anyone familiar with AA will immediately be drawn to see where and how his 10 steps connect with the AA 10 steps. Once drawn in, his sincerity and clarity will hold them.

Tom does a good job of appealing to head and heart…not heavy-handed in either direction. That can be a fine balancing act…particularly when the life of faith seems like such a reasonable choice.

My spiritual journey led me to Tom Ebel and hence his book. “Read the Bible was its lucid message to me. There I have found timely inspirations to further enrich my journey.

To say Tom’s book was heartfelt, that it was clearly and well written, that it was organized to really support his these of growing in and living in faith, to say that the scriptural passages were so apt to each topic and perfectly selected, to tell you that his style was encouraging to the reader, etc, etc, etc, this would all be true. But Ten Steps is a lot more than that. It is a clear outline of what God and His Son desire for us. I don’t think I have read a better, more concise one. And it is a true witness to Tom’s faith, a testimony to the life changing power of Christ. A personal witness statement.
